Fair Oaks Ranch is located on what was originally a 5000 acre ranch owned by oil man and rancher, Ralph Fair. 

Mr. Fair based a racehorse operation there until 1937. The land also served as a working ranch with a dairy and granary. 

Later, Mr. Fair established a registered Hereford cattle operation, and developed a Hereford bloodline from a bull named Battle Intense. 

After the passing of Mr. and Mrs. Fair, the Fair family began to develop the land into a residential community in 1975, and turned the 14,000 sq ft Fair family ranch estate into a country club. 

In 1988, the original 5000 acres were incorporated as the City of Fair Oaks Ranch, with another 3000+ acres of extra-territorial jurisdiction incorporated later.

The hub of the community is the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf and Country Club, the former ranch home of Ralph Fair.

It features 36 holes of championship golf on the Live Oak and Blackjack courses, tennis, swimming, event space and full-service facilities and amenities.
